About Will Stokes

William boasts more than 15 years in the “marine” industry. Eight of those years were spent in the US Marine Corps where he served in combat overseas, as a military police supervisor in the states, and he ended his tour in the accident investigations division. His investigative skills now aid him in his practice as a Marine Surveyor.

Will is a graduate of Chapman’s School of Seamanship’s Yacht & Small Craft Surveying (YSCS). He is an ABYC-Certified Marine Technician, a Certified Drone Pilot with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and is also PITI Level-1 Certified Infrared Thermographer. He is a member of the National Fire Protection Association and the International Association of Marine Investigations. He writes to ABYC standards and the United States Coast Guard vessel safety standards. Will is a staff surveyor on the Sun Coast Marine Surveying & Consulting team.

No expense is spared when it comes to using the best technology for surveying vessels. William uses a combination of tried-and-true surveying tactics mixed with modern technology and training to thoroughly survey each vessel. From reading textbooks of legendary marine surveyors to attending in-person conferences and trainings, William has a desire to continue learning and expanding his already voluminous knowledge of marine surveying and the marine industry as a whole.

In his spare time, you might find William and his wife Tiffany on their 22’ C-Dory Angler cruising the southwest coast of Florida and beyond.
